Oak Wilt in Royal Highlands

One of the most beautiful aspects of our neighborhood is the bounty of  mature live oak trees. Unfortunately, several are showing signs of  distress, possible symptoms of Oak Wilt. Oak Wilt is a deadly fungus that spreads underground through the root systems.

Robert Hawthorne, Texas A&M Forest Service Staff Forester has  been consulted about a possible infestation. He is regarded as the Texas expert on Oak Wilt.  RHHA will continue to work with the Texas A&M Forest Services to advise our members about Oak Wilt.

A video of our meeting with Robert is available to view and is full of important information about Live Oak and Red Oak Trees!  Click the link below or read the summary of the meeting.

Together, as a community, we can reduce the risk to our majestic oaks.
